Beginning July 1, 2012, the age of emancipation in Indiana is lowered to 19 years of age, from 21. Now, child support obligations will end when the child reaches the age of 19. Since your child is already 19 years of age as of July 1, 2012, child support obligations for your child will cease as of July 1. However, your child will still be eligible for education support orders to help cover college costs until the child reaches the age of 21. For additional information, contact an attorney in your state.
