Question:

Does Virginia have a lemon law. Purchased a vehicle from drive time and they are trying to put the screws to me with a defective vehicle.

Selected Answer:

If you purchase a new vehicle

If you purchase a new vehicle in Virginia that is defective, you may be able to obtain relief through the state’s lemon law under the Virginia Motor Vehicle Warranty Enforcement Act. First, the vehicle must be purchased within the state to be eligible for the protection of the lemon law. In addition, you must try at least three times to repair the vehicle for the same problem or the vehicle must be out of service and not drivable for more than 30 days in one calendar year. Vehicles are protected for 18 months from the date you receive the vehicle. If you think you vehicle may qualify as a lemon, contact the Virginia Office of Consumer Affairs. If your car is a lemon, the car’s manufacturer may either replace the vehicle or refund you any money you have paid toward the purchase of the vehicle.
