Child Support and Visitation in Connecticut

In Connecticut, the courts follow Connecticut General Statutes Annotated; Titles 46b-84 and 46b-36 as a basic layout of the rules for determining the amount of child support.  The courts consider the following enumerated factors when resolving the appropriate amount of child support:  (1) the age, health, and station of the parents; (2) the occupation, earning capacity, and actual amount and sources of income of the parents; (3) the vocational skills and employability of the parents; and (4) the needs of the children. check to learn more.

Child Custody in Connecticut

The state of Connecticut has a statutory presumption favoring joint custody if the parties agree to it. If the court does not favor joint custody, it must state its reasons for denying it. Connecticut courts may award joint legal custody with primary physical custody to one parent.
