Nov. 23, 2013Hello. My name is Melody Olsen. I am a 64 yr. old widow of 10 years, and a colorectal cancer survivor. My only income is $1500.00 per month social security disability survivor benefits.I could not afford to live in my beautiful home due to high utility costs. I also could not sell my property.  I thought my solution was to rent my home and move into my small cabin next door. I rented my 3000 s.f. home at 5282 Yuletide Lane, Milford, DE 19963 (Rt. 36 E of Hwy. 1) on April 1, 2013 to Melissa (Missy) Meadows and Michael Westcott.  Because one electric meter services the entire property, I included utilities in the monthly rental amount of $1500.00.  They ran up the electric bill to $950.00 in the summer months. Estimates thus far for repairs are over $13,000.An underage party was held until 3:00 AM with approx.. 30 vehicles parked all over the grass and  blocked the driveways.  On Oct. 24 I told them I would have to evict them and gave them a notice to that effect.  Because I did not send it through the mail, it is not legal.  Meanwhile, they refused to pay rent for Nov.  Of course, I cannot afford to pay utilities for them if they don’t pay rent. So, I turned off the electric switch and had the regulator on the empty propane gas tank removed. I sent a legal notice, but cannot file for repossession in 60 days until Monday. That would be nearly 3 months of free rent for them and no income for me.Melissa Meadows has taken me to court twice in the past week. I have been ordered by a judge to have all utilities on and in good working condition no later than noon on Tue.,  or I will go to prison for up to 160 days. When Michael Westcott was asked how he felt about making me pay his bills, he said he was actually quite proud of himself.I cannot afford the annual maintenance required on two furnaces, the water filter system, electrical repairs, much less repair all the damages incurred and pay for their electric and propane.  I just think everyone should know my story, because I do expect to be arrested and put in prison.  I was fortunate to have a couple of friends who put a half tank of propane in to keep me from being arrested today.I need an attorney's assistance in sending the notice to pay rent in 5 days, please. And, I need assistance in submitting the repossession papers. I sent the notice twice and each time it was wrong and not legal.   Thank you for your time.Melody Olsen5296 Yuletide LaneMilford, DE 19963 302-519-3070
