Welcome to the Iowa Civil Rights Commission Website.

The mission of the Iowa Civil Rights Commission is enforcing civil rights through compliance, mediation, advocacy, and education as we support safe, just, and inclusive communities.

The Commission's major duty is to enforce state and federal statutes that prohibit discrimination in employment, public accommodations, housing, education and credit by investigating and litigating civil rights complaints. In addition, the Commission provides conflict resolution services and mediation for civil rights matters. In addition to its role as an enforcer of civil rights laws, the Commission actively educates the public to prevent discrimination, biased conduct and stereotypes.
