Louisiana Commission on Human Rights
The Louisiana Commission on Human Rights (LCHR) operates under the auspices of LSA 51:2231 et seq., amended and 23:301 et seq., as amended. LCHR handles complaints of employment discrimination based on race, color, religion , sex, disability, age, sickle cell trait, pregnancy, child birth and related medical conditions. Your employer must have a minimum of 20 employees to file a complaint under race, color, sex, national origin, religion and disability in employment discrimination. To file under the basis of age your employer must have 20 employees and you must be age 40 or over, sickle cell trait requires at least 20 employees and pregnancy, childbirth and related medical conditions requires more than 25 employees. The last alleged act involving discrimination must have occurred within the past 180 days. LCHR also provides protection against discrimination in public accommodations and banking and lending.
